Tibet Girls School Gallery:
Ridgeville Farmers Market Bake Sale
July 22, 2009

To raise money for our Tibetan girls school, Tsogyaling was delighted to be the nonprofit table at this week's Ridgeville Farmer's Market. Board members Asang, Louise Rosenberg, Alison Oakes and Colleen Hubbard enjoyed the beautiful summer day and visiting with neighbors stopping by the market.

A mouth-watering bounty with everything from lemon bars to cinnamon blueberry muffins to chocolate chip cookies brought in $125 in donations for the school. Additional bags of goodies were available to students and clients at Heartwood Center the next day where they were extraordinarily popular and resulted in even more generous contributions.

Many Evanston families stopped by to pick out some treats and learn about Tibet Girls School.

Our table included information about the Friday night meditation class, bracelets woven by Tibetan women offered as a thank you for donations, and details about the school.

Asang chats with our youngest volunteer, Jack Rosalie, who offered to make the yummy rice crispy treats for the bake sale.

The woman on the right taught in Tibet for a while and she was delighted to talk with Asang and Alison about our girls.

Many thanks to Sandy Hubbard (center) who not only made a purchase, but baked many of the delicious items for the sale.
