Holiday Greetings from Tibet Girls SchoolDear Friends:First, we wish you a wonderful holiday season and thanks to all of you who have generously supported the Tibet Girls School over the past year. We hope this season brings many blessings to you and your loved ones. Why not ask your friends and family to make a donation to the TIBET GIRLS SCHOOL in lieu of gifts on special occasions such as Christmas, Hanukah, birthdays and anniversaries? Or, why not give a donation to honor someone special in your life? The Tibet Girls School is a vocational boarding school located in Nanchen, an Eastern Tibetan region. Young, illiterate women of this region typically have 6 to 10 children and average some of the highest mortality rates (for infants and mothers) during pregnancy and childbirth. The school serves nomad girls ages 14 to 20 and was founded by our executive director, Asang, a meditation instructor at the Heartwood Center in Evanston, IL. Asang escaped from Tibet shortly after his sister and her baby died during delivery. The Tibet Girls School honors Asang’s sister and all the women at risk by offering the key to health and opportunity: education. Your donation truly will make a difference. It takes only $3.00 per day to clothe, feed, educate and job train one girl. At the school, each girl receives a broad range of instruction, including sewing, weaving and other handicrafts, as well as business and computer skills. The girls cook for themselves as they learn Chinese, English, math, reading and writing. Celebrate the milestones in your life by changing the lives of these special young women. To make a tax-deductible contribution, click the secure button below to pay online with your credit card. Or, send a check — payable to "Tsogyaling Meditation Center" — to:
As an expression of our thanks for your generosity, will be happy to send along a handmade Rangzen Bracelet. These bracelets were originally woven from white and black yak hair, or bits of thread. They are patterned after the traditional slingshot used by Tibetan nomads. Today these simple, durable and striking bracelets are worn as an expression of support for the Tibetan people. Make sure to give us your name and address and we will send the bracelet to you or a designated friend, once your donation is received. This holiday season, give a gift that can make a dramatic difference. Please give to the Tibet Girls School.
